Illustrative image (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern on March 19 stressed the "huge potential" for a stronger economic relationship with Indonesia.
At the invitation of Ardern, Indonesian President Joko Widodo paid a visit to New Zealand on March 18-19, as this year marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
Both leaders reaffirmed a commitment to increasing two-way trade in goods to nearly 2.9 billion USD by 2024, building on the platform created by the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA).
They emphasised that open, stable and conducive business environments are key to achieving this goal, according to the joint statement issued after the meeting.
The AANZFTA took effect on January 1, 2010 with commitment to cutting 90 – 100 percent of tariff lines from 2010-2020.
