The Vietnamese Government has officially approved its participation in the Multi-Party Interim Appeal Arbitration Arrangement (MPIA) – a flexible mechanism designed to maintain and promote the WTO’s dispute settlement function amidst complex negotiations over dispute settlement reform.​

Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said she highly appreciated Vietnam's active role in the WTO, including its participation in important rounds of negotiations and contributions to the reform and improvement of the organisation’s operational efficiency, at a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi on May 18.

Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations, has affirmed that Vietnam together with ASEAN member states and other WTO members support and congratulate Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her election as WTO General Director.
