Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand's Fine Arts Department has temporarily relocated 9 sacred Buddha statues to the Bangkok National Museum for the public to pay their respects during the New Year.
The relics include Phra Phutthasihing , a Buddha image dating back to the Sukhothai Kingdom, Phrakaew Witoonamphueng, Phrakaew Namkhang, Phrakaew Kab Morakot, Phrakaew Chantrakand and Phrakaew Namhai.
The statues were restored during the reign of King Rama VII and are believed to bring peace and prosperity to the kingdom.
Each New Year period, the statues are relocated to the Bangkok National Museum for the public to pay their respects. Other provinces across the country also follow the same tradition to mark the auspicious occasion of the arrival of a new year.- NNT/VNA
