The Airline Operators Committee (AOC) has made an appointment with the Airport of Thailand (AOT) to discuss closure of Suvarnabhumi Airport’s east runway and aviation fees exemption.
The AOT said they will take it into consideration, but so far no negative impacts have been reported by any airlines regarding the runway closure.
Marisa Pongpattanapan, AOC President revealed that the AOC will hold a meeting regarding problems and effects of the planned runway closure at Suvarnabhumi Airport from June 11 to August 9 this year.
The AOC has asked Airport of Thailand Plc for support in case of emergencies and also to waive aviation fees, she added.
On the other hand, Lieutenant Anirut Tanomkullabhud, CEO of the AOT stated that in case of any emergencies, there will be a hot line for that matter, but in regard to the waiving of aviation fees, he will need to discuss it with the board.
In order to minimise the impact of runway closure, renovation will be divided into two phases. The first phase includes area B3-B5 and will take approximately 40 days. The second phase will be initiated upon completion of 870 meters of the first phase.-VNA
