The northern most Ha Giang province welcomed the 330, 000 th international visitor in the last day of 2011, marking a successful year of its tourism sector.
The lucky tourist was Jean Jacque Burg from France , who was with his wife on their tour to the Dong Van Stone Plateau, which is a recognised Global Geo- park.
Through the year, Ha Giang’s tourism sector saw an increase of 9.1 percent over 2010 in the number of visitors, bringing home a revenue of 337 billion VND, up 9.5 percent.
In the past year, being aware of the important role of the tourism sector in local socio- economic development, the provincial government launched various programmes to promote tourism.
In 2012, Ha Giang will continue to focus all resources, including ODA on improving its tourism infrastructure and quality, the diversity of cultural identities, to fulfill the target of receiving 335,000 visitors and gaining a revenue of 360 billion VND./.
