A forum to boost investment in the provinces of northwest region will be held in the northern mountainous province of Yen Bai on Dec. 10.
The event will be a venue for regional localities to introduce their potentials and projects in need of investment.
At a press briefing in Hanoi on Nov.15, head of the Foreign Investment Department, Do Nhat Hoang said that the event provides a chance for domestic businesses and foreign investors to look into investment cooperation opportunities in the northwest region in particular and in Vietnam in general.
In the 2005-2010 period, the region registered GDP growth rates ranging from 9 percent to 11 percent per year. In 2010, its growth is expected to surpass 10 percent with an average per capita income of 11 million VND.
As one of national events, the forum this year will focus on the fields of transportation infrastructure and farm and forest product processing./.
