A young opera Vietnamese virtuoso took part in an international trainingcourse in Oslo, Norway, from July 4 – 19, as part of a Norwegian-fundedproject to boost musical cooperation between the two countries.
Dao To Loan, a graduate from the Hanoi-based Vietnam National Academyof Music in 2014, and her international fellows from 19 countries madetwo public performances on July 17 and 18 after the course which isnamed after Norwegian artist Lidal Johnson.
TheVietnamese singer also won a prize voted by professionals and another bythe audience at a competition concluding the course.
Launched in 2007, the Norwegian Government-funded project“Transposition” aims to help nurture Vietnamese musical talents andenhance bilateral cooperation in the field.
It is now involving five musical institutions from Vietnam and seven others of Norway .
More than 250 joint activities have been held so far, for exampleconcerts, opera and ballet performances, workshops, and training coursesin many cities of both countries.
Geir Johnson,Artistic Director for the project, said another course will be openedthis August in Ho Chi Minh City to give training to some 20 youngtalents from across Vietnam .
The project is alsoassisting over 20 Vietnamese institutions in arts management andplanning to expand their collaboration in the coming time.-VNA
