Deputy Minister ofPlanning and Investment Nguyen Van Hieu said the implementation of ODAprojects, especially those funded by the Japan International CooperationAgency (JICA) and the World Bank (WB), was on the right track.
In order to achieve such positive outcomes, the ministry worked withthe WB to examine slowly-disbursed projects, and join hands withJapanese partners to put forth measures against negative phenomena likecorruption while implementing ODA transport projects.
During the reviewed period, major ODA projects were struck, such asJapan’s Economic Management Competitiveness Credit (EMCC) and the WB’sRoad Asset Management Project, worth 147.6 million USD and 251.7 millionUSD, respectively.
However, gaps in thedisbursement of capital between sectors and localities still exist, mainly in the fields of transportation, power, energy and climatechange.
The Vietnamese Government has beenactively pursuing the disbursement of ODA, with ministries, relevantsectors and localities pledging to work harder in the near future, tohelp businesses overcome difficulties to effectively utilise thiscapital.-VNA
