Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), a company that specialises in dealing with oil spill cases, has launched a new centre with enhanced response capabilities in Singapore .
Located in Loyang, the centre has a convenient geographical location near Seletar and Changi airports.
According to OSRL, the centre is equipped with modern equipment and new technologies with the aim of swiftly responding to oil spills at offshore oil-wells similar to the incident at the Deepwater Horrizon rig in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.
OSRL affirmed that oil spill cases at most oil-wells in the Asia Pacific region are well within the centre’s capacity because its equipment can be used at a depth of up to three kilometres.
OSRL established a similar centre in Jurong, Singapore in 1992.
Funded by more than 130 oil and energy companies worldwide, the company’s centre has tackled many emergency oil spills in several countries in Asia Pacific such as the Republic of Korea, India and Australia.-VNA
