The accident was the third Thai army helicopter to have crashed within the past eight days. The first helicopter, a Huey, crashed on July 16, in the Kaeng Krachan National Park, killing all five soldiers on board. The second, a Black Hawk, crashed insider Myanmar near the Kaeng Krachan National Park on July 19 with nine victims.

According to Thai army spokesman Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd, the Thai army Bell 212 helicopter from an air base in Lop Buri province was on a mission to search for bodies of the victims of the Black Hawk./.
