An opera choir concert titled Carmina Burana will be performed by artists from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) on January 15 and 16 at the Hanoi Opera House to celebrate New Year 2014.
The show, which starts at 8pm, will highlight the poems of Carmina Burana set to music by German composer Carl Orff, and will feature the performances of soprana Ha Pham Thang Long, tenor Trinh Thanh Binh, Japanese baritone Kuroda Hiroshi, along with the choir of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Hanoi Freude Choir, the choir of the National University of Art Education and the Children's Choir under the baton of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.
The famous Ly Dan Nhac, a new work created especially for the VNSO by Norwegian composer Geir Johnson, inspired by the composer's affinity for Vietnamese music, will also be included in this show.-VNA
