As many as 208 overseas Vietnamese (OV) women from 28 countries and territories around the world explored the central province of Thanh Hoa on November 22.
The trip forms part of a programme to promote the role of overseas Vietnamese women in the country’s development, which began in Hanoi on November 19.
Meeting with provincial leaders, the women were briefed on local socio-economic development and tourism potential and asked to be bridges linking the local economy with foreign businesses.
Addressing the event, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, said that she hopes OV women will continue upholding their national traditions, and contributing to the homeland’s development.
During the visit, the delegation called at the world cultural heritage site of Ho Dynasty Citadel, and offered incense at Ba Trieu Temple in Hau Loc district and Lam Kinh Special Relic Site in Tho Xuan district.
Earlier, on November 21, they attended a requiem for soldiers and people who sacrificed their lives to national independence at Ham Rong Park, Thanh Hoa City.-VNA
