A festival featuring traditional music took place in Paris on Jan. 21 to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet).
The event was jointly organised by the General Union of Vietnamese in France, the Vietnamese Embassy in France, the Union of Vietnamese Students in France, the Union of Vietnamese Youth and the Vietnam Cultural Centre in France.
Addressing the event, Nguyen Thanh Tong, UGVF Vice President praised the active and effective contributions of Overseas Vietnamese, including the Vietnamese community in France, which he said, is vivid manifestation of OV affection for the home country.
Tong said that UGVF raised 67,000 EUR to implement a series of humanitarian, social and healthcare activities in poor areas in Vietnam.
This year, the union will continue promoting these projects and join activities to prepare for Vietnam Year in France, to mark the 40 th anniversary of Vietnam – France diplomatic ties, an event of significance to the Overseas Vietnamese community in the country, he said.
The Vietnamese Embassies in Italy, Australia and New Zealand, also hosted Tet celebrations for the local Vietnamese communities./.
