As many as 33.5 kilograms of gold jewellery was confiscated during the arrest of two women and two men on Pham Van Dong Street on January 11, according to the Hanoi Public Security Department’s Economic Crime Investigation Division.
Bui Thi Loan, 28, and Vu Van Lan, 42, both from Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, were discovered attempting to hand over 33 bags of Chinese-made gold jewellery to Co Kien Son and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Van from the Tu Liem District of Hanoi at 11pm.
According to the police, the 33 bags contain 4,319 items made from 18 karat gold, weighing 33.5 kilograms and with an estimated value of 21 billion VND (1 million USD).
The case is under further investigation.-VNA
