Hanoi (VNA) - Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) worldwide are celebrating the 2018Lunar New Year (Tet) with traditional New Year treats and art performances.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Bangladesh has made careful preparations for the NewYear celebration, bringing herbs and ingredients of traditional dishes fromVietnam to give the overseas Vietnamese a taste from home.

Addressingthe event, Ambassador Tran Van Khoa said the annual event aims to consolidatethe solidarity among the Vietnamese community in Bangladesh, thus raising theirunderstanding of their role and responsibility as an important bridgeconnecting the people of the two nations, particularly when the two countriesmark their 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

Numerouslocal friends were invited to the event, thus giving them an insight ofVietnamese tradition, culture while strengthening the friendship between thetwo nations.

Bangladeshis home to 100 Vietnamese, mostly Vietnamese brides, students, and techniciansworking for Vietnamese projects in the country.

OnFebruary 4, crowds of Vietnamese expats in the Macau Special AdministrativeRegion of China also gathered at a Tet celebration. The regionis home to over 20,000 Vietnamese workers.

TheVietnamese communities across the Czech Republic are holding celebrations throughoutthe early half of February, usually at weekends to celebrate the occasion.-VNA

ASEAN Para Games 13: Vietnam adds athletics gold
