PCA's ruling: China has no historic rights in the East Sea
The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) at the Hague, the Netherlands on July 12 issued its ruling on the lawsuit filed by the Philippines against China’s nine-dash line claim in the East Sea.
The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) on July 12, ruled that China violated the Philippines’s sovereign rights in exploring resources surrounding the Reed Bank in the East Sea.
There was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea area enclosed by the 9-dash line as ruled by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, the Netherlands.
The verdict on the case brought by the Philippines against China’s unfounded territorial claims in the East Sea (South China Sea) took centre stage at the CSIS East Sea conference in Washington D.C.
The ruling on the lawsuit filed by the Philippines against China’s claim in the East Sea issued by PCA is hoped to be a positive moment in resolving issues in the disputed waters.
