Representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy, diplomatic offices andcommunity in Cambodia laid a wreath and offered incense at the memorialto volunteer soldiers in Phnom Penh on December 20 to mark the 69 thfounding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22).
The same day, delegations from the Cambodian Defence Ministry andRoyal Army High Command also laid wreaths and observed a one-minutesilence in memory of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who died inCambodia.
Speaking after the incense ritual,General El Vansarath, Secretary of State of the Cambodian DefenceMinistry, spoke highly of the sacrifice of Vietnamese soldiers whohelped his country escape from the genocidal regime of Pol Pot, sayingit is an invaluable asset of the two countries’ special relationship.
He asserted that Cambodia ’s Royal armed forces andpeople will continue to nurture the friendship and solidarity betweenthe two countries and their armies.-VNA
