Philippine auto sales set new quarterly record

According to data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), t he figure represents an annual increase of 22 percent.

In March alone, 23,557 cars were introduced to the country’s roads.

The sales of passenger buses reached 25,000 in three months, a surge of 38.2 percent from the same period last year.

As of the end of March, Toyota was leading the market with 44.2 percent market share followed by Mitsubishi with 18.8 percent and Ford with 8.4 percent.

The archipelago country is expected to buy 310,000 vehicles in 2015.-VNA
