The National Food Authority (NFA) of the Philippines has said it plans to import an additional 400,000 tonnes of rice in the second half of this year to shore up the national stock.
The importation plan will be finalized at a meeting on July 22.
Once approved, the plan is expected to be carried out in early September. The additional import will bring the total rice import volume of the Philippines this year to 1.2 million tonnes.-VNA
