Images of the land and people of Spain will be brought closer to Vietnamese people through a photo exhibition that opened in Hanoi on May 22.
The week-long display, jointly held by the Vietnam-Spain Friendship Association (VSFA) and the Spanish Embassy, forms part of activities to mark the 35 th anniversary of Vietnam-Spain diplomatic ties.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, VSFA President Nguyen Hoai Duong, who is also Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency (VNA), said the exhibition is a chance for Vietnamese people to understand more about the land and people of Spain , as well as friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
With nearly 120 photos taken by Spanish and VNA photographers and photojournalists, the exhibition brings Vietnamese to famous sites in Spain, from the Avila wall, a symbol of Avila city in the Middle Ages, the Lespipes waterfall and the Montsoriu bastion built in 1002, to architectural establishments such as the Stone House and windmills in Consuegra, which inspired Cervantes to write Don Quixote, a literary masterpiece.
Apart from photos capturing friendship and cooperation between the two countries, such as King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia during their trip to Vietnam in 2006 and President Nguyen Minh Triet in Spain in 2009, the exhibition also devotes part of its space to highlight the daily life of Spanish people with familiar images such as bullfights, wine cellars and the Real Madrid football squad./.
