Havana (VNA) – Photos on Vietnam and Vietnam-Chile relations are being exhibited at the Chilean National Congress’s headquarters in Valparaiso.
Speaking at the exhibition’s opening ceremony on March 20, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Ngoc Son thanked the Chilean National Congress, the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group and the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute for helping organise the week-long exhibition.
He hailed the significance of the event to celebrate the 48th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (March 25, 1971) and to mark 50 years since the historic meeting between Chilean President Salvador Allende and Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi in May 1969.
According to Son, the photos show the close and profound relationship between the two countries, and promote the image of a peaceful, friendly and hospitable Vietnam.
Chilean Congresswoman Karol Cariola, also President of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, expressed her desire to maintain coordination with the Vietnamese embassy and the Chile-Vietnam Culture Institute in organising people-to-people diplomacy activities.
Also at the opening ceremony, participants were treated with Vietnamese cuisine and art performances on Vietnam and late President Ho Chi Minh.
After the ceremony, Ambassador Son visited Vice President of the Chilean Senate Alfonso de Urresti to discuss parliamentary cooperation and measures to boost the two countries’ partnership.-VNA
