Lao Cai(VNA) – A photo exhibition, themed “Discovering Vietnam”, opened at the Lao CaiMuseum on July 7, as part of the 2017 National Tourism Year – Lao Cai – NorthwestRegion.

The event showcases100 photos taken by 82 photographers nationwide on a range of subjects,including islands, spiritual and eco-tourism.

These photos reflectedthe unique beauty of the country, people, cuisine and cultural traditions.

The same day, theLao Cai People’s Committee presented the province’s special art-literatureawards on the occasion of its 110th founding anniversary (July 12,1907 - 2017).

Thirty-fiveartworks received the awards, including six first, six second, ten third and 13consolation prizes.-VNA

Vietnam’s presence at the event was highlighted through artistic performances and activities promoting Vietnamese tea and coffee. The song “Viet Nam trong toi la” (Vietnam in me) conveyed to Canadian audiences a message of national pride and the beauty of Vietnam and its people.

Great National Unity Festival to be held abroad for first time

The festival aims to promote the traditions of the VFF, affirm the value of the great national unity bloc, and strengthen ties between Vietnamese communities abroad and the homeland. A festival of this scale can provide more performance opportunities while enabling Vietnamese and international musicians and artists from different generations to meet, learn and connect. It can also bring jazz closer to audiences who may regard it as difficult to appreciate or suited only to a niche audience.
