Nguyen Thi Phuong from Thanh Hoa finished first in the 5.2km women's event of the 38th annual Run for Peace – Hanoi Moi newspaper race around Hoan Kiem Lake on Oct. 2.
This is the second time in a row that Phuong has taken the top title, beating national teammates Pham Thi Hien from Thai Binh and Nguyen Thi Dong of Hanoi after three laps.
In the men's division, Bui The Anh, from the Border Guard team, edged out Hanoian Dang Hai Duong and Le Trong Giang of Thanh Hoa in the 8.5km event.
The hosts managed to win the team event, beating both the Border Guard and Thanh Hoa teams.
Lamphay Phanpadit from Laos came first in the foreign men's division, ahead of Russian Anton and Khasbashbat Zoyabat.
Mel Hamada, Hazel Alcesthr and Nicole Biddle from the United Nations International School dominated the women's division.
The race, which drew around 2,000 runners, is part of larger celebrations of the 57th anniversary of Hanoi's liberation on October 10th.
Part of the money raised via the race will be donated to the Fund for the Poor./.
