Accordingly, 59 out of 63 first-grade pupils in twoelementary schools in A Luoi and Nam Dong districts, the central province ofThua Thien-Hue scored over 5 out of 10 points during the end-of-term test, 14of them earned 9-10 point.
The organisation also funded another pilot project on developing Co Tu written language forfourth and fifth-grade primary student and Pa Ko, Ta Oi written languages forfirst, second and third-grade primary students.
The project aims to contribute to the maintenance and developmentof written languages for Co Tu, Pa Ko and Ta Oi ethnic groups, thus preservingand developing their cultural values.
Earlier, the provincial Department of Education and Training,in collaboration with of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences organised acourse teaching Co Tu scripts for Co Tu teachers in Nam Dong and A Luoidistricts.
Co Tu is one of the ethnic minority groups in ThuaThien-Hue, which plays an important role in the local socio-economicdevelopment.
Co Tu language is used as their mother tongue. However, likemany other ethnic minority groups, Co Tu people’s written language is at riskof falling in oblivion, which hinders the preservation and development of theircultural values.-VNA
