HCM City (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited veteran journalists in Ho Chi Minh City on June 18 ahead of the 94th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21).
He visited and presented gifts to journalists Nguyen Thi Hang Nga – former Chairwoman of the HCM City Journalists Association, Ma Dieu Cuong – former Chairman of the HCM City Journalists Association and former Deputy Director General of the HCM City Television, and Nguyen Trong Xuat – former Chief of the Office of the municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the city’s resistance war tradition club.
The PM also visited Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thanh Dinh, author of many articles about music.
Congratulating the journalists on the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, PM Phuc said the Party and State acknowledge their dedication to the revolutionary press, which has contributed to national development and defence.
The leader expressed his hope that they will continue upholding the revolutionary spirit to make more contributions to the city and the country, while instilling the revolutionary press tradition into younger generations.
Participating journalists appreciated the PM’s encouragement and promised to uphold the tradition and educate the young on this to help with local and national development.
On this occasion, the Government leader also extended the best wishes to journalists nationwide and called on them to keep their political steadfastness and occupational ethics, step up communications about role models, and fight negative phenomena.
PM Phuc added that the revolutionary press must make righteous and timely news updates, refute wrongful information, and encourage people to contribute to national development.
Also on June 18, a meeting took place in Hanoi to update the media about press activities and to mark the 94th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. It was held by the Party Central Committee’s Information and Education Commission, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Vietnam Journalists Association, and the Vietnam Television.
At this event, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam also congratulated journalists across the country and highly valued their devotion. He expressed his belief that with their 94-year tradition, Vietnamese journalists will overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfil their duties.-VNA
