The 27 th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is scheduled to be held in Hanoi from July 17-24, 2016, according to a plan recently approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
Under Decision 1534/QD-TTg, the organisation of the IBO 2016 aims to encourage Vietnamese junior and senior high school pupils to study biology, and discover and train the country’s future biologists.
A National Steering Committee for the IBO 2016, headed by the Minister of Education and Trainin will be formed and tasked with the preparation and organisation of the event.
PM Dung assigned specific tasks to relevant ministries and agencies to guarantee the effective implementation of the plan in all aspects, including finance, communications, security, health care; and receptions and sightseeing programmes for delegates.
He also reminded the municipal People’s Committee of Hanoi and other localities to work closely with related ministries in the mission.
Last year, Vietnamese students won three bronze medals and one silver medal at the 25 th IBO in Indonesia.-VNA
