Policies for Khmer ethnic people discussed

The workshop, held by the Ho Chi MinhNational Academy of Politics and Public Administration in collaborationwith the Southwest Steering Committee and the Can Tho City’s PartyCommittee, aimed to assess the Party and State’s policies for TherevadaKhmer Buddhism and Khmer ethnic minority people.

It is expected to finalise a master project compiled by the academy onpolicies for Therevada Khmer Buddhism and Khmer ethnic people insouthwest region until 2020.

More than 20 speeches presented at the workshop focussed on theregion’s socio-economic and cultural situation after more than fiveyears of implementing the instruction 68/CT-TW and urgent importantissues set for now until 2020.

The workshop also heard proposals to supplement policies for TherevadaKhmer Buddhism; the development of economic and technicalinfrastructure; education and training Khmer personnel resources andvocational training assistance, job generation and poverty reduction aswell as the land, housing, safe water and environmental hygienepolicies.

The delegates showed their special interest in the personnel resourcedevelopment, education and training, raising people’s awareness amongKhmer people.

They emphasised the need to exercise the equality among poor householdsin majority Kinh and ethnic Khmer people and raise Khmer people’sself-reliant spirit to get out of poverty./.

All four Vietnamese students sweep medals at Moscow int’l chemistry olympiad

Vietnam - France friendship captured through photographs

The “Lyon – Ho Chi Minh City” exhibition showcases 14 large-format photographs by Adrien Jean, a French photographer living in Ho Chi Minh City, and Tony Noel, a French-Vietnamese photographer based in Lyon. Australian veteran’s son returns diary of Vietnamese martyr

Entries in the diary show that Vo Van Cong was born in 1944 in the former Phuoc Tho commune, Nhon Trach district, Bien Hoa province, now Dong Nai province. He joined the revolutionary movement in April 1961 and was admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam in May 1962.

Book week underscores role of knowledge in policymaking

Each weekend in Hanoi, the “Reading with Children” Club brings together students to practise reading, explore language, and express ideas creatively. According to founder of the club Nguyen Thuy Anh, the club encourages children to reflect, retell stories, and connect books with personal experiences, making reading more vivid and meaningful.
