Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 28 handed over the State President’s decisions appointing Nguyen Van Thang as Minister of Finance and Tran Hong Minh as Minister of Transport.
Acknowledging the upcoming period facing both opportunities and challenges, the PM highlighted the heavy responsibilities of the Government and expressed his hope that the newly appointed ministers would leverage their strengths, professional experience, and sense of responsibility to meet the requirements of the new era - the era of the nation's rise, as directed by Party General Secretary To Lam.
He tasked the finance minister and the ministry with effectively implementing targeted and focused expansionary fiscal policies, restructuring the national financial system, reducing regular expenditures, prioritising development investment, and advancing the capital and financial markets to mobilise resources for development.
Meanwhile, the PM asked the transport minister to accelerate the implementation and completion of key national projects, particularly ensuring that the Long Thanh International Airport is basically completed by 2025.
The government leader also called on both ministers to join hands with the Government to streamline administrative structures, downsize staff, and step up efforts to combat corruption, negative phenomena, and wastefulness.
For their part, the newly-appointed ministers pledged to work tirelessly and collaborate with the Government to successfully fulfill their assigned duties./.
