Prizes go to young Vietnamese pianists at int’l competition

Two young pianists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music won a second and a third prize at the 4 th Mozart International Piano Competition in Bangkok, Thailand, from July 20 – 24, according to Nhan Dan (People) daily.

Dang Thai Vu, born in 2005, secured the second place in group D for those between 7 and 9 years old.

Meanwhile,13-year-old Nguyen Ba Duy Anh ranked third in group B, categorisingparticipants aging from 13 to 17. Anh is the youngest contestant in thisgroup.

The four-member panel praised Vietnamese pianists for their skills and understanding of musical works that they played.

Thisis the third time Vietnam has attended the competition. Last year, acontestant from the country won the first prize in group D.-VNA

Vietnam to send 498-member delegation to 20th ASIAD in Japan

The delegation comprises top athletes competing in key sports including athletics, shooting, swimming, martial arts (wushu, karate, taekwondo and jujitsu), sepak takraw, rowing, canoeing, football, volleyball, golf, fencing and weightlifting. It will also include officials, doctors and international experts.
