Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has recently approved a national programme to develop e-commerce for the 2014-2020 period.

The programme targets the building of an efficient infrastructure system with an electronic payment structure applicable to all e-commerce categories, especially B2C (business to customers).

Accordingly, payment cards will be used widely to reduce the use of cash, while the verification of electronic signatures will be applied to ensure security for transactions.

Ensuring a favourable environment for e-commerce is also a target of the programme. It is set to make shopping online a regular habit of customers, while making sure that enterprises conduct e-commerce models such as B2B (business to business) and B2G (business to government).

In addition, the programme also aims at building standards for data exchanges in e-commerce, developing e-commerce products and solutions and upgrading the capacity for export firms to work with prestigious domestic and international e-commerce users.

Meanwhile, measures to build online trademarks for key Vietnamese products and services will be conducted, while solutions to meet online orders will be developed.

Online applications for public services will also be created to assist state management agencies and businesses.-VNA
