Starting one year ago, the project has equipped the children as well asnearly 650 teachers in the district with the basic knowledge on how todetect unexploded ordnance and avoid mine accidents.
Nearly 11,000 local residents in eight villages in Duy Xuyen’s Duy Son communes also received training under the project.
The activitiy will continue into next year, targeting another 5,000people in the district, which was the site of fierce fighting during theanti-US war. The area is plagued with unexploded explosives and minesleft from the war, with many mine accidents involving local residentsand children.-VNA
