The Ha Long Tourism Week 2011 opened in the northern province of Quang Ninh on April 29 with a series of cultural and sport activities.
Highlights of the four-day event include a photo exhibition on Ha Long, a cuisine festival, a music and poetry night, open football and tennis tournaments, light art performances and a Carnaval night.
According to the organising board, the festival expects to draw about 50,000 visitors, accounting for over eight percent of the number of tourists to Ha Long every year.
With the slogan “Ha Long Quang Ninh – Tropical paradise”, the event aims to popularise images of Quang Ninh and contribute to promoting the voting campaign for Ha Long Bay to become one of New 7 Wonders of the World which is entering the final stage./.
