The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh will organise annual cherry blossom festivals to strengthen the friendship between the province and Japan’s localities as well as the ties between the two countries.
The first event of its kind was held in the locality in April last year. More than 100 cherry blossom trees, which was Japan’s present for Quang Ninh, were planted in Ha Long city and Yen Tu Buddhist historical site in Uong Bi city.
This year’s festival is scheduled to take place in March in Ha Long Park, Ha Long city, where 120 cherry blossom trees are in bloom, according to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau.
Hau said the event is also expected to help promote investment cooperation between enterprises from both sides.
He added that about 20-30 booths will be arranged during the event to introduce tourism products, commemorative gifts and other typical products of Quang Ninh and Japan.-VNA
