More than 4,100 tonnes of rice from the national reserves will be distributed to 30,676 underprivileged students in northwestern Dien Bien province in the 2013-2014 school year.
Each day-boarder will receive 15 kilos of rice a month for nine months.
According to the Prime Minister’s decision dated on June 18 on the provision of rice to needy students, beneficiaries include pupils and students at local ethnic minority schools and primary and high schools in extremely difficult areas.
Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training Le Van Quy said the move shows the Party and State’s due attention to the province’s education and training work, helping ease the difficulties of students living in remote and mountainous areas and encourage them to go to school.-VNA
