Sung-ha Jung, a guitar prodigy from the Republic of Korea (RoK), is returning to Vietnam for two concerts on April 18 and 19 in Hanoi and HCM City respectively, the country’s Youth Theatre announced on April 9.

Sungha Jung performed in Vietnam in 2014 and instantly won the hearts of music lovers, particularly those fond of the guitar.

The 19 year-old superstar is renowned for his fingerstyle technique, which involves plucking strings with fingertips, nails and finger picks rather than hitting individual notes with a plectrum. He began playing the guitar at the age of five and has risen to fame through videos posted on his YouTube channel and social media.

His cover of “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, which currently has over 45 million views, made Jung an internet sensation. As well as covers he has also composed his own music in different styles and has released six albums. He has been invited to work with famous artists and has toured in many foreign countries.

His latest Vietnam tour will be supported by the country’s Fingerstyle Guitar Organisation, which has thousands of members nationwide and provides a space for Vietnam’s guitar-loving community to develop the genre, bring it to a more professional level and create links with the international music community.-VNA
