Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov has met with ambassadors of ASEAN member countries in Moscow to discuss practical steps to foster the dialogue partnership between Russia and ASEAN.
During the February 19 meeting, the two sides agreed to increase political contacts, promote cooperation in regional security and the fight against emerging challenges and threats, as well as expand trade-investment and cultural relations.
In recent years, Russia and ASEAN have enhanced collaboration in various fields. ASEAN is now a promising market for Russia’s weapons exports, training and tourism cooperation.
Meanwhile, Russia plays an important role in maintaining regional peace, security, stability and development in ASEAN’s global integration and the building of its economic community by 2015.
