Russian Academy of Sciences opens branch in VN

The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on October 23 opened a branch in the campus of Binh Duong University located in the Vietnamese southern province of the same name.
The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) on October 23 opened abranch in the campus of Binh Duong University located in theVietnamese southern province of the same name.

Thesub-institute is expected to open up new opportunities for Binh Duongand other provinces in the region in training high-quality humanresources in science-technology.

Earlier, Doctor ofScience Cao Van Phuong, who is also rector of Binh DuongUniversity , was honoured as an academician of the RSA for his greatcontributions to bolstering traditional friendship between the twonations.

He was also awarded with noble Keldysh Golden Medal by the RAS for his achievements in mathematics and mechanics.

Establish in 1991 with 12 centres and 520 academicians, 30 of them areforeigners, the RAS functions in compliance with the legislation of theRussian Federation and the Academy Charter. Its principal aimconsists in organization and performance of fundamental researches forthe purpose of obtaining further knowledge of the natural, social andhuman development principles that promote technological, economic,social and cultural development in Russia.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year.
