Vietnam and Russia should have a cooperation agreement on film production in order to promote exchanges of experience among film producers of both countries, said Popov Phedor Maksimovich, Director of Russia’s Stella film studio.
“ Vietnam has many cinemas and a large movie audience,” said the Russian director at a meeting in the Hanoi-based Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre on October 27 during the Russian film week in Vietnam .
The deputy secretary general of the Russian Cinematography Association, Lazarak Sergeny Vladimirovich also said Vietnam ’s movie industry is growing and this is an advantage for both countries to cooperate in making films.
However, Vladimirovich pointed out the absence of Russian films screened in Vietnam’s cinemas over the recent past, stressing the need for concerned agencies of the two nations to work on a cooperation pact in this field.
Since 2003, Russia has increased annual investments for the movie industry by ten times, around 160 million USD. Each year, the Russian movie industry churns out more than 100 films and only 4-5 are selected from the pool to be screened during Russian film weeks overseas./.
