Hanoi (VNA) – Rescuers found seven more bodies on June 8 during the search for a Myanmar military aircraft that went missing with over 100 people on board while flying over the Andaman Sea, bringing the total fatalities to 10, the Myanmar military said.
The military noted that the ten bodies, including six adults and four children, were discovered about 35 kilometres off the southern coastal town of Launglon.
The plane vanished shortly after taking off from the coastal town of Myeik on a flight to Yangon, carrying 116 people, including 105 passengers and 11 crew members; 15 among them were children.
It lost contact when it was about 32 kilometres west of the town of Dawei.
Wreckage of the military plane was found on June 8 morning.
According to a military source, bad weather might be the cause of the accident. But, the exact cause can only be confirmed once the aircraft’s black box is recovered.
The search is continuing.-VNA
