A woman and a man were injured during a March 7 shooting near Lumpini Park in the Thai capital Bangkok, a few hours before the Thai government assessed whether to maintain the state of emergency declared on January 22.
According to the Bangkok Post, the injured are a 31-year-old woman and a taxi driver.
This is the first reported incident of violence near a protest site since anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban announced the end of the Bangkok Shutdown campaign on February 28 and merged all other rally sites into the one at the park.
From November 30 last year, political violence across the country has left 23 people dead and 768 others injured, according to the latest figures released by Nangkok’s Erawan Emergency Medical Service Centre.
