Singapore has announced measures to intensify cyber security in order to prevent a recurrence of attacks on the country’s government websites, including those of its President and Prime Minister.
At a cyber security seminar in Singapore on August 26, Minister for Communication and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim said that the Government is upgrading its Cyber Watch Centre to observe and promptly cope with hackers’ activities. The upgrade process is projected to be completed by Jan 2015.
According to the minister, large-scale cyber security violence cases have caught public concern.
To prevent such incidents, Singapore will initially increase the number of cyber security experts and develop applications to concrete its cyber network.
Last year, the websites of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan and other Government portals were hacked after a member of an international hacker organisation named Anonymous demanded the country remove its regulations requiring local websites to get license annually.-VNA
