Singapore’s Ministry of Social and Family Development will carry out a pilot Social Enterprise Mentoring Programme in December, aiming to optimise the beneficiaries’ business operation and social impacts.
Under the programme, social enterprises will provide jobs to people with disabilities, ex-convicts and the needy in broader consultation of corporate professionals and individual entrepreneurs in the fields of marketing, strategic planning and business development.
Announcing the programme at a recent conference of the Social Enterprise Association, Singapore President Tony Tan underlined the sharing of strengths and resources to build Singapore into a more inclusive society.
By now, the programme is still in the process of finalising the list of mentors who must perform their social enterprise mentoring at least once a month apart from relevant professional skills.
A review will be conducted in next July to see if the pilot programme should be expanded to other social enterprises.-VNA
