Singapore will help Myanmar set up a vocational training institute (VTI) in Yangon as part of its efforts to support the country’s economic development, according to local press.
The offer was announced on April 1 at a state banquet hosted by President U Thein Sein to Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam, who is on a five-day state visit to Myanmar .
The establishment of a VTI for Myanmar is made under the Singapore - Myanmar Technical Cooperation Programme agreed during Thein Sein's state visit to Singapore last year.
The proposed VTI will focus on imparting skills in a wide range of industry sectors including hospitality, electronics and facilities management.-VNA
