Singapore (VNA) – Singapore’s President Halimah Yacob will not be running for a second term as head of state in the upcoming election this year.
The President said after very careful consideration, she has decided not to stand for re-election, expressing her great honour and privilege to serve as the eighth President of Singapore for the past six years.
Her term will expire on September 13 and the presidential election, which is held on a regular six-year cycle, has to be called by then.
