Representatives from Singapore’s Sima Sapphire on September 26 visited families of fishermen whose fishing vessel had been collided by it in the waters of the southern province of Ba Ria–Vung Tau.
Ten days ago, Sima Sapphire, on its way to Malaysia from Ho Chi Minh City, hit the fishing vessel TG 92819 TS from the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, which was returning to the shore with 16 people onboard.
The incident caused three deaths, while five others are still missing.
Sima Sapphire’s representatives committed to taking necessary measures to help fishermen and families of the dead and missing stabilise their lives as soon as possible.
At first, they will provide 4,000 USD for each dead or missing and 500 USD for each rescued fisherman.
The authorities of Tien Giang have so far supported more than 200 million VND (9,500 USD) for the victims.
Under the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, rescue forces are still working hard to search for the five missing fishermen.-VNA
