Six Thai provinces to become green urban farming areas

Six Thai provinces have been picked out to become green urban farming areas under a project recently launched by the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to boost eco-friendly production.
Six Thai provinces have been picked out to become green urban farming areas under a project recently launched by the Thai Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to boost eco-friendly production.

They include provinces of Chieang Mai, Nong Khai, Si Sa Ket, Chanthaburi, Phatthalung and Ratchaburi where locals will learn more about greenhouse gas, organic farming, water and soil preservation, eco-tourism, agriculture research and development.

With focuses on cultivation, animal husbandry and fisheries, the project is in line with a 2014-2016 strategy on organic farming development that sets to turn Thailand into a hub of organic production, trade and consumption.

The activity is also in response to the 2012-2016 national socio-economic development scheme which looks to sustainable environmental management./.
