WHO official urges tobacco tax, price hikes
Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Vietnam Angela Pratt has called on the country to raise tobacco tax and prices, which are still among the world’s lowest.
Smoking ban in certain places from August 1, 2023
The Ministry of Health has recently issued Circular No 11/2023/TT-BYT, regulating no-smoking places.

Smoking rate envisaged to fall under 39%
Vietnam is striving to reduce the rate of tobacco use among males aged from 15 to less than 39% in the 2023 – 2025 period as set out in the National Strategy on Tobacco Harm Prevention and Control to 2030. The figure among women aged from 15 is expected to decrease to below 1.4%.
