April 30, 1975 marked the liberation of the south and national reunification - a historic milestone of the country. At the Vietnam Military History Museum, artefacts preserved from that time serve as vivid witnesses to those heroic days. More than relics of battle, these items convey a deep yearning for peace and inspire pride and gratitude in today’s generations.
A national programme with a wide range of activities will be held by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
Over the past 50 years of construction and development since the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025), Ho Chi Minh City has seen the emergence of numerous modern and civilised urban areas. These developments not only enhance the city's appearance but also improve residents’ quality of life. They reinforce the city’s position as a special urban centre and a leading hub for the economy, culture, education and training, and science and technology in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
A ceremony was held in Sam Son city in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa on October 27 to mark 70 years since the welcome of compatriots, cadres, soldiers, and students from the South gathering in the North (1954 - 2024).
