Special events to be held during French Week in Da Lat

A series of activities will be held during a special French Week in Da Lat city, which was built by the French colonists in the late 19th century, in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, from December 9-12.

They include a map exhibition, screeningsof four French films, a concert and a photo exhibition highlighting DaLat at night by French photographer Sebastien Laval.

The “Plague and Cholera” – a book by Patrick Deville (and printed inVietnamese and French), which tells stories about Swiss-French doctorAlexandre Yersin, will also be introduced during the week.

Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) was credited in Vietnam for finding LiangBiang plateau, a famous site in Da Lat city, in 1893, and founding theMedical School of Hanoi in 1902.

Co-organisedby the French Embassy in Vietnam and the provincial People’s Committee,the event is part of activities to celebrate the 40-year diplomatic tiesbetween Vietnam and France.-VNA
