
Hanoi (VNA) - The 2018 SpringCalligraphy Festival opened at the Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam (Temple ofLiterature) in Hanoi on February 9, drawing a large number of visitors.
This year’s event features the participationof 63 calligraphers taking part in a range of calligraphy writing activities.
As many as 34 outstanding calligraphy worksare being showcased in an exhibition for the festival. They were crafted with avariety of materials and in a variety of styles, recording famous sayings,lines of poetry, proverbs, and folk verses
During the festival, which will last untilFebruary 25, a retrospective display will be on show, helping visitors learnmore about the country’s education during the feudal period.
Many cultural activities showcasing thevalue of Vietnamese traditional folk culture, including an area for handicraftsfrom Hanoi’s trade villages, a display of folk paintings and folk games, willalso be held during the festival.
At the opening ceremony, the organisingboard presented two first, two second, and two third prizes to calligrapherswith the most outstanding works in the 2018 Spring Calligraphy Competition. -VNA
